Teach Juggling for a Living Pt 1
Teaching for a living – How to make a great living teaching juggling professionally in schools, summer camps, youth organizations or as a public speaker
1. Attending and presenting at Teachers conventions, getting leads, follow up and contracting
2. Winning faculty and administration approval at the school
3. What to charge at schools and summer camps
4. Your Day in the school
- Getting district approval to visit schools
- Working with the custodian and cafeteria staff
- Involving the school secretary who actually runs the school
- Shielding the principal from any parental or political blow-back by supplying academic rationale for the program
- Establishing your space in the gym or cafeteria
- Working with the Physical Education faculty throughout the day
- Holding a Teachers Meeting in the early AM for the entire faculty – What to tell them and how to get them excited and involved
- Organizing your day in the school
- Working with classroom teachers throughout the day so they become long-term supporters
- Establishing a “Master Juggler” program for the school
- Setting up wall charts to advance students from novice to expert
- Establishing a student-led monitoring system
- Peer teaching and cooperative learning
- Juggling and Behavioral, Academic, and Fitness goals
- The school-home connection
- Organizing and presenting at Family Night
- Building in Continuation of the program after you leave
- Creating a contract with the school
- Liability and insurance
- Invite them to join your local juggling club (or start their own)
5. Use of social media for promotion before your arrival to insure great turnout at Family Night
6. Use of agents/ websites for getting into schools – Mobile Ed – Academic Entertainment Shows that Teach The Bash
I’ll bring scarves, beanbags and a few other toss juggling props, but feel free to bring your own.
